5 Lessons My 20’s Taught Me

1. Think Long-Term With Your Money

There were times in my early 20s when I made and saved a good amount of money—but I spent it just as quickly on things that didn’t last. Looking back, I wish I had invested even a portion of that money into my future. At the time, I was only thinking about the weekend, the summer, or the next cool thing I wanted. I didn’t take the time to research or build healthy money habits until my late 20s.

2. Spend Time & Money on Your Hobbies—They’ll Pay You Back

I chased the “good time” for a long time. Then I found myself, years later, confused about my identity and direction. If I could go back now, I know exactly where I’d spend my free time: creating, learning, and getting lost in things I loved.

3. Get Into a Regular Meditation or Grounding Practice

It will develop your emotional and mental maturity in ways you didn’t know you needed. The sooner you start, the more resilient, compassionate, and aware you’ll become.

4. Prioritize Travel and Friendships

Take time off. Keep a credit card open for travel—just spend reasonably.
Travel solo. Travel with friends.
Research where to go. Then… just go.

Work will always be there. Your friends will not.

5. Your Biggest Falls Will Be Your Greatest Teachers

There are mistakes we’ll make in this life that will hurt like icy hell. If you’re lucky, they’ll be few and far between. But whether few or frequent, appreciate them. You’ll be better because of them.

I’m a month away from entering my 30s, and I’m so grateful to be here. It feels like I’m just getting started—and I’m excited to see what this next decade brings. I’m ready to make it revolutionary.

Who’s with me?

Thanks for reading.

Love,

Kala
